CommentsAttention Science Fiction and Fantasy authors! Echelon Press is compiling an anthology of fun, witty, short speculative fiction! The book will have a simultaneous release in trade paperback and PDF e-book sometime in mid-2003, and it will feature ten to fifteen humorous short stories. The anthology won't get a title until the stories are chosen for inclusion, so for now, the project will be referred to loosely as Wyrd Wravings. Submissions will be accepted through midnight of October 15, 2002. Submissions should be 4,000-12,000 words in length, previously unpublished, and may be submitted electronically. Shorter or longer works WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. More info at http://www.echelonpress.com/wyrdwravings/

CommentsI'm interested in syndicating (either myself or through an agent) a Christian column using either a Biblical character or original character to deal with various issues and situations in a short story format. I wrote a similar weekly column for about two years for the daily newspaper I write for. I also wrote a similar column under a different name for a monthly Christian newspaper for a few months. I'm interested in sydnicating the column on a national/international basis. I've worked at a small-town daily newspaper for more than 14 years. I also preach and do puppet ministries and seminars in churches. I would like contact with agents or tips on how to go about syndicating such a column.
CommentsTo person seeking syndication: www.WritersWeekly.com sells a HOW TO BE A SYNDICATED NEWSPAPER COLUMNIST Complete self-syndication kit They published a unsolicited success story last week in their newsletter. It might be just what you are looking for. Good luck and let us know how you do. Amy
CommentsHi Everyone, I just discovered this web site and have to say it's really awesome! I've written two non-fiction books, both automotive titles, and just signed a contract with my publisher for a third. I've recently begun to branch out into freelance editing (I have been a freelance writer for several years and am currently employed as a magazine editor) by placing ads in a couple of the major writing magazines. Can any of you suggest other avenues for pitching my editing services? Online? Other print publications? I'm just not sure how to proceed, and I want to be careful about expenses. Contact me directly at Rare440@aol.com if you have any suggestions. I'd also like to hear from other freelancers who write for business trade publications to discuss the current market.

CommentsHello, I would like you to consider a book that I have written. It is called - God Exists: An Engineer Explains Why. There are 16 chapters and it is approximately 70,000 words in length. It is written from a somewhat different perspective and tries from a logical and scientific viewpoint to help readers come to believe in the existence of God. It looks at various sciences such as mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics and even a little astronomy. A contentious chapter also discusses the theory of evolution. For interest, the book uses a combination of the writer's personal experiences as well as expressing technical viewpoints. The writer hopes to bring those in doubt to believe in God and those that already believe to help strengthen their faith. The book may be examined by going to the website and using the following link: http://www.mts.net/~pekored Yours truly, Peter Soszek

CommentsGlimpses From The Edge Captures Life In New Jersey -- NRW, 06:05:34 10/31/02 Thu National Reader Weekly - Oct.30, 2002 GLIMPSES FROM THE EDGE, A MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE If one could dig up a time capsule in what were the suburbs of Newark a hundred years from now, they would most likely find a copy of Glimpses From The Edge by Dan Bruder. This book is a collection of his memoirs gathered from a wide range of experiences over the last half of a century growing up and living in Northern New Jersey. If the book was an attempt to chronicle the times, it would have failed, but the fact that it is one man's honest recollection of his little slice of a time gone by makes it personal and believable. He drags the reader through his high school life during the Vietnam Conflict, which includes his self-indulgances, attempt at stardom and his employment calamities. Even though the motive is to tell his tale, he inadvertently paints a vivid picture of the era. As he ages, and attempts to mature, he is faced with issues of parenting, marriage, illness and financial challenges. As he put it, "To those of us who lived through those times it is memories and to those who are younger it is important history." Uncork this bottle and see what flows out, it is worth it.
