Blueline, A Literary Magazine Dedicated to the Spirit of the Adirondacks seeks poems and stories relating to the Adirondacks and regions similar in geography and spirit, focusing on the shaping influence of nature.

The Ledge 2011 Poetry Chapbook Competition

PRIZE: Winning poet will receive a $1,000 cash award and 25 copies of the published chapbook.

SUBMIT: 16-28 pages of original poetry with title page, biographical note and acknowledgements, if any. Please include your name, mailing address, email address, and phone number (optional). Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but we ask that you notify us if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere. Poets may enter more than one manuscript.

ENTRY FEE: $18. All entrants will receive a copy of the winning chapbook upon its publication in the fall of 2011.

NO RESTRICTIONS on form or content. The Ledge Press is open to all styles and forms of poetry. Excellence is the only criterion.

PLEASE include a SASE for the competition results or manuscript return. The winner will be announced in April 2011.

Pebble Lake Review Open for Submissions

Pebble Lake Review is interested in poetry, fiction, and book reviews/interviews of high quality and serious intent. We regularly print work by both well-known and emerging writers. We recommend potential contributors read the magazine before submitting.

How to Submit: Please note that our submission deadline has changed. PLR will only accept submissions September 1 to February 1 each year. We will also only accept submissions via email. We apologize for any inconvenience.

All submission must include a cover letter listing name, address, email, and brief bio. Work must be sent in an attached Word or RTF file or pasted into the body of the email. We will accept simultaneous submissions (if noted), no previously published material, no multiple submissions. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will be returned unread. Response time is typically 3-4 months.

Poetry: Send a maximum of 5 poems care of Amanda Auchter, Editor, following the general guidelines above. Send poems to submissions@pebblelakereview.com, either as a Word or RTF attachment or pasted into the body of the email. All poems should appear in one attachment. Please do not send: greeting card verse, amateur/children’s poetry, or erotica.

Interviews/Reviews: Query before sending interviews. We review books/chapbooks of poetry and short story collections. Please send one copy (no manuscripts) to address below. CAVANKERRY press

Seeks short poetry and prose for the Waiting Room Reader: Stories to Keep You Company, Volume II, a collection of narrative/lyrical pieces designed to help reduce the stress experienced by those waiting for medical care. Focus should be positive and center on life's gifts or humor and needn't be related to health or the medical experience. Submit up to 5 pieces, none longer than 1-2 pages (double spaced for prose).
