toddler anthology

Tales of Two: Real-life Stories about Parenting Toddlers

Tales of Two: Real-Life Stories about Parenting Toddlers is an anthology of first-person stories about the ordinary and the extraordinary in the lives of
one, two, and three year olds. Forthcoming from Seal Press (October 2003), the anthology includes a myriad
of voices--stories from well-established writers like Tillie Olsen, Joyce Maynard, Ericka Lutz, Martha McPhee, Nicole Cooley, Harriet Lerner, Paul Kivel, and Gordon Korman, to name a few, as well as stories by emerging new talents including Shu-Huei Henrickson, Katie Greenebaum, Peter Fong, and Kerri Peterson. The editor, Jennifer Margulis, is a professional freelance
writer, writing consultant, and photojournalist who has published widely. This is her second book.

Real-life first person stories (500-1,500 words) that put the toddler center stage and combine impeccable prose with interesting antics are currently
being sought to complete the volume. Remuneration will be given to all contributors. Submissions from fathers and people of color particularly welcome.
Send query or whole text (in RTF as an attachment) & brief biography via
e-mail to:
properzioprose@attbi.com

or w/ SASE to: Jennifer Margulis
10 Walnut Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
Deadline for complete story: Jan 10, 2003.
Please query sooner.

inquiries@wheatlandpress.com

Wheatland Press announces an open reading period for POLYPHONY 3, the third
volume in the critically-acclaimed POLYPHONY anthology series. The publisher
and editors are committed to finding outstanding cutting edge fiction from
new writers as well as from established writers. We will be looking for
stories that stretch (or break) the boundaries of traditional genres. Send us
your magic realism, surrealism, literary stories with a genre sensibility,
and other hard-to-classify stories with strong literary values, compelling
characters, engaging tone and unique voice. If you really want to know what
we are looking for, check out the first volume of POLPHONY, available
directly from Wheatland Press, genre booksellers or online booksellers.

We will accept submissions by letter mail only at our P.O. Box, postmarked  from January 1st, 2003 through February 15th, 2003. Manuscripts received with
a postmark date outside the designated reading period will be discarded unopened. Any manuscripts received by email will be deleted unread. If you
live overseas or otherwise need to request an exception to this policy, query us at inquiries@wheatlandpress.com. Please follow standard manuscript formatting and submission conventions, especially including no simultaneous or multiple submissions. Word count is open, but our preferred range is 4,000-10,000 words.

It is our intention to respond to all submissions by April 15th. We pay $0.06
per word for First Print and Electronic World Anthology Rights, on acceptance, along with two author's copies on publication. These guidelines
may be redistributed freely in their entirety.

We look forward to seeing your best work.

Romancing the Spirit's Soul--

True Spiritual Stories of the Afterlife

Everybody loves ghost stories. I remember as a child having a slumber party listening to ghost stories and not being able to go to sleep afterwards. Of course, it didn't help if none

of the others had any problems and were snoring away, while I was left with the ghosts and the goblins clawing my bedsheets.

But, the real ghost stories aren't fables, nor are they fairy tales. The real ghost stories are the true spiritual experiences that happen to you and me that leave an impression with us that goes on forever. They are the unforeseeable bumps in the night with no real conclusions. They are the scratching at the window when nothing is there. They are the footsteps on the staircase when everyone is asleep. These are the stories that are true, unbelievable, but last with us a lifetime. But, THEY ARE OUT THERE AND THEY DO EXIST.

We are looking for your true spiritual stories of the afterlife. We want to prove that spirits exist. Can you do that? If so, follow these guidelines and send your story to us today!
