Do you know of a nurse who went above and beyond the call of duty in easing a patient’s suffering, a family’s sorrow, or a co-worker’s overload? Have you been inspired by a nurse’s compassion, dedication, integrity, and skill? Have you heeded the call to or realized the dream of becoming a nurse? As a nurse, have you been inspired by a patient, a loved one, a mentor, or an extraordinary nursing experience?

If so, we want to your story -- for a new anthology of insightful and inspiring true stories for and about nurses, by the editor and publisher of the bestselling book series, A Cup of Comfort.

Stories must be original, true, uplifting, in English, and 1,000-2,000 words.

Payment: $500 grand prize; $100 each, all other published stories. Copy of book.

Seeking Funny Stories about School Children

Planned: an anthology of humorous stories from preschool and elementary school teachers. Each story needs to be about 500-750 words. The working title is "Faculty Funnies." Please do not use real
names of other teachers, parents, students, or schools. You may use USPO mail, e-mail, or fax your entries.
Please do not send original copies, as manuscripts will not be
returned.

Annual William Allen Creative Nonfiction Prize

This annual competition honors the work of William Allen, the founding editor of The Journal. The William Allen Creative Nonfiction Prize offers $500 and publication of the winning essay in the upcoming issue of The Journal.
All styles, subject matter, and forms are welcome.

All manuscripts will be considered for publication.
A reading fee of $10 should accompany each manuscript (make checks payable to: The Journal).
Every entrant will receive a copy of the issue of The Journal in which the winning essay appears.
The maximum word count is 6500 words.
Please double-space all entries.
