In The Sound of Paper, Julia Cameron delves deep into the heart of the personal struggles that all artists face. What can we do when we face our keyboard or canvas with nothing but a cold emptiness? How can we begin to carve out our creation when our vision and drive are clouded by life's uncertainties? In other words, how can we begin the difficult work of being an artist?

Keen Publications, Inc. is seeking stories

Seeks stories

of aggressive, creative women who made the first move to get the man of their dreams for a book to be published in 2006. We are paying $20 for each story we accept that explains how you did something proactive, unique and/or outrageous to grab your tiger.  You may choose to remain anonymous, or we will give you credit in the book for your successful story--whichever you prefer. Either way you will be paid if your submission is published.

We need true stories of what you did/said/planned, etc. to get your guy.  That first move could be anything:  Perhaps you concocted a clever ruse. Maybe you grabbed that tiger by a "tale." If the first move was yours, and it resulted in success for you, we want to hear about it. Please indicate if your initiative resulted in marriage or committed arrangement.

The most unique and inspired tales will be accepted for publication. Please note that it doesn't have to be your story; you may submit the story of any female you know who brazenly took the initiative--it could be your best friend, aunt, etc., if it complies with the above.

E-mail your submissions to KeenPublications@aol.com.  Please put GRAB THAT TIGER in the Subject line. Put your story in the body of the e-mail (no attachments, please) and single space it. Please stay within the 750 word maximum.  Good luck!

Keen Publications, Inc.

is the publisher of Keen on New York Top-Rated Services, 2004 Ed., a successful, survey-based consumer book, which was sold in Barnes & Noble and other fine stores, and online, last year.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Rack: Women Write about Their Breasts

From Venus de Milo’s chiseled cleavage to Janet Jackson’s notorious SuperBowl wardrobe malfunction,
women’s breasts have long served as catalysts for cultural criticism, wonder, and infatuation. In a
nation where a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and teenage girls receive

breast augmentations as graduation gifts from their parents, it is impossible not to wonder -- How do women truly feel about their breasts? Rack: Women Write about Their Breasts will aim to
explore this question by going right to the source and sharing the stories of women who have had extraordinary and ordinary experiences with their bust-lines. In order to complete this unique
anthology, the editor is seeking well-crafted personal essays on a wide range of breast-related experiences and issues. Each unique non-fiction piece in this anthology should shed its own light on the moving, confusing, and often hilarious experience of having breasts; diverse and unique perspectives are encouraged. Submissions should be strong, developed, first-person accounts that don’t tell your breasts’ entire life story, but instead highlight a specific moment, experience, or process that made a significant impact on your life. Thematically, essays should address the question -- In a world of plastic surgery, piercing, and porn stars, how do we, as women, learn to love, lose, and eventually accept our breasts?

Some likely topics include:
Getting nipples pierced/other breast-related body modification
Accounts of breast implants (I love them, I hate them, implant-related illnesses, etc.)
Experiences of modern-day moms (pumping,breast-feeding, what your mother never told you but
you were forced to learn on your own)
Experiences with mastectomy
Growing up flat-chested, with uneven breasts, or with weird nipples
Binding breasts for gender purposes
Transitioning from a breast-friendly culture to American culture
Breasts and sex work
Shopping for a first bra
