anthologies.
The first to be announced is the What do Women Want? What Do Men Want?
series.
Your editor is looking for smart, funny, angry, touching, spiritual, or
academic essays from 500 to 3,500 words based on what each gender wants from a
mate. We want different voices of different ages and cultures to explore this
topic. Please write from only one point of view (What Women Want or What Men
Want) per essay.

CommentsHi Everyone, I just discovered this web site and have to say it's really awesome! I've written two non-fiction books, both automotive titles, and just signed a contract with my publisher for a third. I've recently begun to branch out into freelance editing (I have been a freelance writer for several years and am currently employed as a magazine editor) by placing ads in a couple of the major writing magazines. Can any of you suggest other avenues for pitching my editing services? Online? Other print publications? I'm just not sure how to proceed, and I want to be careful about expenses. Contact me directly at Rare440@aol.com if you have any suggestions. I'd also like to hear from other freelancers who write for business trade publications to discuss the current market.

CommentsHello, For a person who swore she'd never give up her dear, old Royal typewriter, I've learned to never, say "Never." I'm enamoured with the wonderful ways to reach out and find kindred souls through the Internet and my computer. So, it's my pleasure to post on the Anthologies Online message board. And, I'd love to be a featured author one day. I wear two writing hats: one as a grant writer and one as an author, primarily of mysteries. Over the years, I've written $45 million in awarded grants that have helped communities and people in need. My first novel came out a little over a year ago. DEATH STLAKS THE KHMER, features amateur detective Bridget O'Hern. She's called in to help the police solve the murders of a Cambodian refugee couple. The story is set in Seattle. My hope was to have the book truly be a whodunit that entertained but also enlightened about a culture many know little about. Apparently, I succeeded because a professor of social work used my book as one of the reading texts for his social work classes. My latest news is that my story, "A Lover's Understanding," is in an anthology titled MURDER IN MIND, is coming out the end of January. anthology is published by Paranormal Press, and the editors are with the Rhine Institute, a respected research institute known for its paranormal studies. In addition, I'm co-editing a micro mystery anthology, BULLET POINTS, that will be published by Wildside Press later this spring. Contributing authors are primarily those who are members of the Short Mystery Fiction Society. Thanks for letting me post. I'd like to close with a thought: Life is a mystery. Live it one day--one page--at a time. Cheers, Patricia Harrington www.patriciaharrington.com
CommentsHi, I am hoping that I might be able to find someone out there that has an incredible talent for writing and a vision similar to my own. I am an actor and film producer who has just completed a documentary film that is recieving great response from distributors. You can find information about myself and the film at www.sebastianmaclean.com. I am currently looking for a script so I can begin working toward making my next film. I made my last film with very little money and it has already recieved international attention through various international magazines. I am hoping to utilize the success of my last project to increase my filming budget and capture a story on film that will be of even greater inspiration and substance than my last film. I am looking for a drama, action, adventure or any combination of these, that will carry with it characters of depth and value. I am looking for stories that teach the audience about things of value and absolutes. The characters may have strong conflict, but I want the morality of the story to show in its heros and/or their transformations. Stories based on parables might be one example or stories that demonstrate a biblical sensibilty without prozletizing to an audience. I am hoping to find a story that will have audiences walking away and feeling they can talk deeply about the film and how it has impacted their thoughts or just enjoy the fact that it was a good story. I recognize that this may be a tall order, but these are the stories I will be making in the future. If there is anyone out there that might feel the need for this kind of film to be made and they are able to get a script to me I would love to talk about the possibilities of making it into a film. Although my budget and the type of film I will be able to produce will be a factor in any dialogue, I will be interested in considering any of the appropriate scripts that I recieve. If any one is interested please contact me through my e-mail and we can talk in more detail. info@sebastianmaclean.com Thank you for your consideration, Sebastian MacLean
