God Allows U-Turns - Historic Moments in Time
True Stories of Hope and Healing from National Tragedies
(formerly titled "From Tragedy to Triumph")
STORY SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS MARCH 1, 2002
Release Date: Fall 2002
Submit story via web site at: http://www.godallowsuturns.com
Have you been touched by an historic moment in our nation's history? Our world is a volatile place --- every day we are confronted by tragedy - how have these tragedies brought you closer to God? Has God spoken to you in a special way, or have you made a U-turn closer to God as a result of a national tragedy? How did the events of September 11 touch your life? What about the Oklahoma bombing, did that touch you in some inexplicable way? Did you live through the Viet Nam war? How about Pearl Harbor or other historic military events? Has an "Act of God" touched your life, such as an earthquake, tornado, fire or flood? What about events like the Columbine shootings, or other school shootings? The assassination of Martin Luther King stunned the world, as did the assassination of President Kennedy, and the tragic death of his son and his young wife in a plane crash. Have other major airline crashes or freak accidents changed your life? It seems a day does not go by that our world is not rocked by an event the likes of which leave us speechless. Please share those historic moments in time with us - those moments that profoundly affect us and often bring us closer to God and instill in us a desire to turn toward Him as never before.

The Pagan's Muse: Poems of Ritual and Inspiration

For an anthology for Citadel Press, editor Jane Raeburn is seeking poems on Pagan- and Wiccan-related themes. These may include (but are not limited to):

Ritual elements (openings, closings, invocations, spells, chants)
Nature themes
Poems about specific goddesses and gods
Poems of love and sexuality
Poems of laughter and humor!
Prayers
Poems of healing
Poems of grief and remembrance
Rites of passage (birth, adulthod, marriage, old age, death)

E-mail submissions are preferred, with the poetry in the body of the e- mail. If formatting is important to your expression, you may instead attach your poem(s) in Word or Rich Text Format.

Send up to 3 poems to poems@janeraeburn, along with a brief biography (25 words or less). Make sure your submission includes a title and the name under which you want to be published. If your work has been previously published, please indicate where and when, and what rights are held by the author. ** Deadline is Aug. 1, 2002. **

Poets whose works are accepted will be notified by e-mail, and will receive a copy of the book if they include their real name and postal address. If your work is accepted, you will be asked to sign a release, so please make sure your e-mail address remains active, or send notification of any change in your contact information.

Poems will be chosen on the basis of originality, use of language and relevance to Pagan spirituality. It doesn't matter whether the poet identifies as Pagan or as something else. What's important is the quality of the work and its relevance to Pagan readers.

A special section will feature the work of poets 18 and under. If you wish your work to be considered for this section, please include the age at which you wrote the poem.

In addition, Raeburn (author of "Celtic Wicca") seeks suggestions for previously published works which may belong in such a book, including translations of ancient texts. Please include any helpful information (title, date, publisher, author) with such a suggestion. If you've performed a translation, please submit it as you would a poem, but include the title, time period and author of the original work.
