Writers Wanted Find the August edition of All NEW markets for writers here... Free Subscription Our subscribers see many of our new markets and articles before they are published online. Porcupine is a non-profit literary arts magazine published semiannually in Cedarburg, Wisconsin by a dedicated group of editors who are passionate about the arts. Porcupine is perfect bound with four-color covers and averages 150 pages. Occasional issues offer full color reproduction of visual artwork inside as well. Each issue of Porcupine is anchored by interviews with world class artists and also includes poetry, fiction, essays and visual artwork. Porcupine is published twice each year. Issues contain a mixture of poetry, short fiction, essays, feature interviews, and visual art work. Cover art is occasionally selected from submitted material. We welcome unsolicited manuscripts and art work throughout the year. There are no restrictions as to theme or style. Prose should be readable, professional, and of a high quality. Make us care about the characters. Poetry should be accessible and highly selective. If a submission is not timely for one issue, it will be considered for another. Send a sampling of visual art work, one prose piece, or one to three poems at a time (mail genres separately). Art work should be submitted as transparencies or 8x10 glossy prints. We can accommodate a limited number of full color reproductions. Black and white is encouraged. Prose should be double spaced on one side only and should not be longer than twenty-five pages (shorter pieces will receive stronger consideration). Although we are interested primarily in short stories, novel excerpts are acceptable if self- contained. Poems should be individually typed on one side of the page. Each page should include the author's name. Feature interviews are commissioned and are not accepted without prior arrangement. Previously published material or simultaneous submissions are not considered. It is recommended that the magazine be reviewed prior to submitting material (send $5.00 for a sample copy). Submissions should be mailed with SASE to: Porcupine, PO Box 259, Cedarburg, WI. 53012. The outside of the envelope should state: "Fiction", "Essay", "Poetry", or "Art Work" . Unsolicited material sent directly to an editor's home or office will be discarded. Expect ten to twelve weeks for a response. Payment is one copy upon publication. Submissions of shorter pieces of work will also be accepted through E-mail at ppine259@aol.com Faeryrealms.com publishes short stories, poems, reviews, artwork and articles about faeries, also true life encounters with the Fair Folk. We are a family friendly site, with readers of all ages. Works may be targeted specifically to children, or to adults. Hint: there is always room for flash fiction [under 2000 words] and poems sonnet length or shorter. Faery Realms does not pay writers, although they do get a publication credit, a paragraph about them and their work [if they wish], and a link to their website, if applicable. This can be a valuable tool for self-publishers and people selling or promoting their work online. We also need more works for young children. We welcome contributions from emerging as well as established writers and seek to foster a literary dialogue within the Guyanese community. Our anthology will gather a diverse array of works; we hope that by collecting works about and by Guyanese, many of the pieces published will engage issues relevant to that community. Submissions are now being accepted: short fiction, literary non-fiction, poetry, drama, memoirs, and interviews with and by other Guyanese. Bellevue Literary Review A journal of humanity and human experience Submission Guidelines 1. Please limit fiction, creative nonfiction and critical essay to 5000 words. Manuscripts should be double-spaced with full author information on the first page. Please submit only one manuscript at a time. 2. Poems should be single-spaced and no longer than one page each. Submit up to 3 poems at one time. 3. Indicate fiction, creative nonfiction, essay or poetry on the outside of the envelope. 4. No electronic or faxed submissions accepted at this time. 5. We read submissions year-round, but the deadline for the spring issue is November 25, and for the fall issue is May 15. Submissions received after those deadlines will be considered for the following issue, but turn-around time will likely be slower. 6. No simultaneous submissions, please. We will make an effort to reply promptly. 7. Include SASE with sufficient postage for reply. 8. BLR acquires first-time North American rights. After publication, all rights revert to the author and may be reprinted as long as appropriate acknowledgement to BLR is made. 9. Upon acceptance, we request manuscript copies in MS Word and a short bio (50-75 words). 10. Payment is in the form of copies. 11.
