'We Love You Beatles, Oh Yes We Do!' by G A De Forest
For almost 40 years the Beatles have held a special place in the hearts of a generation, seemingly based on not much more than cute personalities, fluffy hair, some weak 'revivals' of rock'n'roll, easily memorable Paul McCartney melodies, a few consciously arty albums and their own brand of English Music Hall songs hardly befitting a music movement purporting to be revolutionary. Maybe it's time to reassess -- with our heads -- their real worth.

Jesus (Peace be upon him) in Islam. by The Islamic Garden
The subject of Jesus (peace be upon him) has been a source of controversy for centuries. Is he Divine or a messenger of God (Allah)? The Islamic portrayal of Jesus is very like the Christian version but with a few fundamental differences. The Qur'an clearly tells us about the miraculous conception and birth of Jesus, the piety of Mary, their escape to Egypt in his childhood, his miracles, the opposition of the Children of Israel, to whom he was sent, the Last Supper, the disciples and the Divine source of his teachings. What then, is the difference?

Pop Art and Consumerism: How the 1960s Art Movement Changed Your Buying Habits by Donnalee Dunne
We think of ART HISTORY as recording the past in much the same way written words record the past. Art history is much more than that. It serves not only as a barometer of what is happening in today's world, and as a record of what people were thinking in the past, but it also often actually instigates a change in the future. A change in your lifestyle of today was actually made back in the 1960s by a small group of artists and an art movement called Pop Art. Read how Pop Art resulted in today's consumer traits. This report is one of a series showing how ART has changed the future as well as being a witness to then-current events.

Classical Music and the Unborn ChildPublished Copyright 2001* by Barbara Sealock
Until recently, the receptivity of the unborn child to classical music while still in the womb was largely unknown and unrecognized. Today, more scientific evidence and knowledge prove that infants are highly responsive to sound, even before birth. It is now a "given" that classical music, in particular, can help develop the child's neurological pathways for early musical recognition and enhanced learning. Designed as an overview and guide for expectant parents and those who nurture and teach young children, "Classical Music and the Unborn Child" is a practical and illuminating introduction to the subject. Included are views of experts; quotes and true anecdotes from the mothers who played classical music for their children before and after birth; and a list of resources, books, web sites, and CD's for further reference. An invaluable guide for all who care about infant and child development.

The American West From the Eyes of the Artist: The Yosemite Message by Donnalee Dunne
Yosemite has become an icon that not only represents the American wilderness, but one of the few symbols associated with America itself. The artist - the painter and the photographer - has been influential in presenting Yosemite as wilderness, as frontier, as Utopia. Furthermore, the artist was very much responsible for the Westward movement since the beginning of settling the North American continent. From the very first published print Yosemite has been experienced from afar - from the living rooms of America, but more dramatically today. We are today able to view Yosemite from the air, as from the eye of God. Today we have been promised our Utopia through technology. Today we are influenced more by environmental issues and concern of over-population.
Today's scenario could be stated as such: in the progress of conquering the American West, settlers piled up along the Pacific on the edge of West-ness, until the west coastline has become as inhabited as the eastern part of the country. Somehow a bit of the wilderness was passed over in the process. The rugged, seemingly uninhabitable portions of the mountains are still wild. They beckon to the ones desiring the wilderness encounter to come, experience.
Then go home.
This is a brief history of American art, but not so much what artists think they do, but rather what it appears they are doing.
Included is a analysis of paintings done by two wilderness painters: Albert Bierstadt who painted Yosemite and the West in the late 1800s, and Stephen Lyman who painted the Western wilderness, including Yosemite, at the end of the 20th Century.
This report is one of a series on how art has affected the future as well as recorded the past.

You are More than Your Sun Sign: A Guide for the Beginning Astrologer by T. C. Gardstein
Upon taking your first breath, a snapshot of our entire solar system is taken…forming your very own cosmic blueprint for life. Certainly your Sun sign is significant, yet there are eight other planets plus the Moon to consider in any person’s natal chart, plus the angles they form to each other; a growing number of astrologers also look to the planetoid Chiron, plus the influence of the four major asteriods Ceres, Pallas, Vesta and Juno. Your horoscope wheel, consisting of twelve Houses, is determined by your time of birth and acts as a sort of astrological skeleton which the planets “flesh out.”
Entire books have been written about the nature of one planet; such texts can be wonderfully accurate and enlightening, but if you are just starting out or would like a refresher course in the basic precepts of astrology, or if you are an astrological skeptic secretly wanting to be proved wrong, look no further than this guide.

A Seeker's Dozen: The 12 Steps for Everybody by Kathy Shaidle
Do you feel you were "born without the instruction manual for living"?
That you're always "three beers short of normal"?
That others would hate you if they knew the real you?
Maybe the 12 Steps can help. The famous Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous are really just timeless spiritual guidelines, written for modern people. A famous philosopher wrote that each man has a God-shaped hole that only God can fill. When we fill that hole with anything else, no matter how harmless or worthy it seems, we become addicted.
Our natural need to worship and serve God is short-circuited—by reckless consumption, spending and other addictive behaviours—when we find God "too much work," too frightening or mysterious.
Our addictive lives are fine for a while, but eventually (if our compulsions don't kill us first) we sense that inner emptiness again. Our old solutions don't work anymore.
The 12 Steps are one way to grow beyond addiction into maturity, responsibility and communion with God.
We may be tempted to stick with our old, familiar manner of living rather than risk everything on this untried, even baffling new way.

Entering the Forbidden Countries by Edgar Calabia Samar
Writing can be a form of healing. In many ways, such as in the case of Mars in his journal accounts here, writing has some therapeutic effects to an individual's inner self. It recuperates our soul, it gives a fuller understanding of our being. It makes us realize who we really are and in what direction we are really going.
From the beginning, Mars had to admit that he is "...always good at starting a journal - or a diary, but I always couldn't keep myself on writing. Perhaps, I had always been stopped by fear. I was always afraid of things I knew nothing about: what would my friends think of my thoughts, how would my family react with the things I wanted to say and do, and things like that. But still, I am here. Writing. And struggling."
This is an account of his attempts to explore the forbidden countries of his mind - to say what he really wants to, without inhibitions. To be himself at least through this. Mars further reflects on his condition and dilemma as an individual and says, "I would like to think that I am a coward. I would like to believe that until now, I am still afraid of the things that had caused me the same fears before. But that's part of me just as those fears are still part of the territories I've been living my life with. But I guess, to get into the areas of my being that I hadn't allowed myself to enter for so long, even once in a while, for now, is still worth the risks."

Large and medium sized companies usually hire advertising agencies to handle radio, television and print advertising. Sadly, many small business owners feel they don’t need much but a few business cards and flyers to pass around to promote their business.

You need many types of advertising literature to provide as much information about your business as possible. Anybody can have flyers and business cards made up, but in today’s highly competitive world the person with the most professional presentation is going to get the most business.

The towns and cities with which we are familiar are based on a planning model best described as a grid environment. Efficiency and convenience in getting a vehicle from one place to another seems to have been the reason for using this model in the first place, beginning many years ago. Over the years the effects of these design assumptions have proven to be very costly for us all, even though most people don't seem to pay much attention. Costs continue to grow for the social, educational, and environmental problems that are surfacing as the direct result of using this type of planning model for the physical design of any community. In contrast, a new model called intentional sustainable village communities takes its inspiration from so called "uncivilized" village models where the problems we face in our "civilized" culture do not even exist. In this model the best and simplest of modern knowledge is combined with the village design to maximize the chance for individual happiness, health, and prosperity. Full development of individual potential is fostered by the daily living context of a small, vibrant, conscious and intimate community. The personal fulfillment and creative solutions that naturally arise from this type of lifestyle project outward like ripples on a pond to benefit the world.

7 Simple Strategies to Become a Great Leader by Latham Shinder
Hello, I'm
Latham Shinder, Editor of TheNewNewStrategy.com,
and I'd like to share a story with you.
On a beautiful
late spring afternoon, twenty-five years ago, two young men graduated
from the same college. They were very much alike, these two young men.
Both had been better then average students, both were personable and both--as
young college graduates are--were filled with ambitious dreams for the
future.
Recently,
these men returned to their college for their 25th reunion. They
were still very much alike. Both were happily married. Both had three
children. And both, it turned out, had gone to work for the same Midwestern
manufacturing company after graduation, and were still there.
But there
was a difference. One of the men was manager of a small department of
that company. The other was its president.
What
Made The Difference
Have you ever wondered, as I have, what makes this kind of difference
in peoples lives? It isn't always a native intelligence or talent or dedication.
It isn't that one person wants success and the other doesn't.
The difference
lies in what each person knows about leadership and how he or she makes
use of that knowledge.
And that's
why I've written the 7 Simple Strategies to Become a Great Leader.
The whole purpose is to give readers knowledge--knowledge about leadership
that you can immediately use in your personal, family, and business life.

134 Things That Won’t Grow No Matter What You Do To Them - A Guide for the Optimistic Person with a Brown Thumb by Felice Prager
From 134 Things That Won’t Grow No Matter What You Do To Them - A Guide for the Optimistic Person with a Brown Thumb:
"In 1985, I started to take a different approach. I already knew I couldn’t make things that were supposed to grow show any signs of life. My best attempts at growing things were my sons, and they were developing questionable vocabulary and a distinct desire for independence and strange women. In the realm of gardening, I had tried planting from seed, seedling, and every way, shape, or form, and nothing would come from the ground that resembled greenery. I ordered bulbs from catalogs imported from hostile foreign countries, and still I never saw success.
So, I decided to try something completely different. I’ve spent a lifetime being told that successful people think outside the box. So I decided it was time to dig up some geometry that's buried in the recesses of my mind and get things growing in my yard.
I decided to plant things that the normal person would never even think of putting in the ground, except perhaps in an old landfill, and see what happened.
What did I have to lose?
I already knew I couldn’t grow things that were SUPPOSED to grow, but what about things that didn’t have a prayer of growing roots or blooms. Maybe my life had a deeper purpose; maybe THIS would be the way mankind would exist when food sources were depleted. Maybe I'd be the next Luther Burbank. Maybe it would be the Hydroponics of the New Millennium. Maybe I'd get a Nobel Prize."

Growing and Using Stevia: The Sweet Leaf from Garden to Table by Jeffrey Goettemoeller & Karen Lucke
Grow your own sweet leaf! Stevia leaves are over 10 times sweeter than sugar. Stevia, though, is non-glycemic (doesn’t cause blood sugar swings), virtually calorie-free, and doesn’t encourage cavities. All this makes it a great home-grown, natural alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners.
The Problem with Refined Sugar
Why avoid sugar? The average diet includes so many empty calories, there’s little room for needed nutrients. Then too, sugar enters the blood stream quickly, leading to rapid fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Finally, sugar encourages rotten teeth, unlike Stevia. In fact, one study showed that Stevia inhibits bacteria that cause cavities.
What About Artificial Sweeteners?
These have drawbacks too. Aspartame, for instance, should not be used in cooking. When heated, it breaks into its constituent parts. Additionally, aspartame has been a major cause of health related complaints to the FDA. Stevia, on the other hand, has not prompted reports of health problems despite its extensive use since the 1970’s in countries such as Japan.
Why Use Stevia?
We encourage Stevia use for all the reasons anyone switches to artificial sweeteners. Yet Stevia isn't artificial -- it's a plant that’s been used safely for centuries. Most importantly, the 20 stevia recipes in this special report taste great!

Islam between Myth and Reality by The Islamic Garden
Islam is very often misrepresented and misunderstood, even by those who profess to follow it. Yet, its origins reach back into the beginning of time. It remains steadfast; unchanging as the world emerges into the technological age of today. It remains the echo of morality, piety; calling for equality, justice and freedom from oppression.
It also poses a threat to some aspects of modernity, as it disallows the elements of life that have come to be known as intrinsically 'free', such as usury and monopolization of the market place and the mistreatment of women. It also outlines clear boundaries for human behavior and sexuality, which ensure the freedom of all. It allows scope for children to grow in a healthy, loving environment; teaching them to uphold the truth; sure of its existence.
Most people today, including many Muslims, remain confused about Islam, yet its message is so simple and clear. From the soul, to the mind, and on the practical functions of life - explore the thoughts, ideas, dreams and reality of a Muslim.

Markets in India: Have They Come of Age? by Sahana Ghosh
India, like many of the emerging economies, launched its development programme with restrictions on imports and private big business. Down the line, the strategy got muddled with vested interests of oligopolies, consumerist urges, resource crunch and foreign exchange requirements. Liberalization and market-friendly approach took over in the early nineties, making happy the consuming middle classes, business community and multinationals. After the initial euphoria, even this strategy direction seems to be facing with inertia, with many of the policies half-finished. Yet, there still is room for a possible
resurgence of market activities in some sectors.
