Italy, A Love
Story
Women Write about the Italian Experience
Seal Press
Details:
http://www.sealpress.com/submissions/
We are looking for compelling essays by women who have
great stories to tell about their travels or experiences in Italy.
Send your finest non-fiction writing (previously published
work is acceptable, but note it). Whether traditional or creative personal
essays, we’re looking for more than memoir or travelogue, though these genres
may lend appeal to a story. We’re looking for a strong narrative—stories that
build toward a satisfying dénouement—something changed, learned, understood more
deeply. Strong character development is helpful. A good sense of humor is
desirable, though tragic accounts are welcome. Stories may be rooted in some
aspect of traveling there, the joy and/or difficulty of living and/or studying
in Italy, an insightful moment of culture shock, the agony and ecstasy of
immersion, loves lost or gained with Italian men or women. We’re looking for
substance, but style is encouraged.
For examples of stories that worked very well for this
type of anthology see Seal’s latest collection, France, A Love Story: Women
Write about the French Experience (edited by Camille Cusumano).

Now seeking true stories for: Sacred
Fire (Adams Media, 2005)
Details:
http://www.sacredfeathers.com/submit.htm
My barn having burned to the ground, I can now see the moon.
Japanese proverb
Fourth in a series of edited anthologies about the impact of the four sacred
elements
(earth, air, water, and fire) on our lives From the Olympic torch and Eternal
Flame memorials to campfires and candlelight, the element of fire, the element
of fire contains a unique spiritual
energy. Fire, which birthed our very planet, connects us to ancient powers that
have existed from the beginning of creation. Remember Prometheus, who stole fire
from the gods? And Icarus, who challenged the fierce power of the sun?
The mystery of fire takes many forms: meteors and comets, starlight, fiery
volcanoes, fireflies, firewalking, fireworks, funeral pyres, bonfires, sunlight,
the Phoenix rising from the ashes, the sacred fire of passion. Even fires
that destroy may contain a sacred gift. What has been the gift of fire in your
life?
Sacred Fire is a book of true stories, reflections, meditations, and poems
about the power and mystery of water and fire in all forms. They will show how
the spiritual energies of water and fire can serve as sources of guidance and
inspiration to illuminate our life journeys. Submission Guidelines: Stories
should be written in first person, based on actual events, and be specific about
what happened as a result of your encounter with water or fire. Show the
impact on your life. 500-1500 words. Original poetry will also be accepted,
length
and style variable. Previously published material will be considered. Bio will
be included. Contributors will receive one copy of the completed book.
Send submissions to:

Short Stories
Sought for Paranomal Erotica Collection
Looking for erotic short stories of sexual encounters with "otherworldly"
beings; ghosts, aliens, magical/mystical, paranormal, etc. for an anthology
(to be named). This will be electronically published first and may progress
to a print edition.
Stories must be erotic - explicit is fine, but not
pornographic, meaning stories must have some substance and plot/storyline

meant to terrify, but exciting, erotic sex with the 'unknown'. Use your
imagination!
Unpublished work is preferred.
Details:
Rights - chosen stories may be reprinted in any magazine, print or
electronic, or in a collection of the author's own work, but *not* to another
anthology. (These are the proposed publisher's requirements, not mine, sorry.
If this changes, contributor's will be notified.)
Payment - one time payment, whether this remains and ebook or goes to print,
of $20 US, as well as author bio promoting novels, website etc. Payment will
be made on publication.
Word count - Preferred length 2,000 to 5,000 words. Work that is poorly
edited or with numerous spelling, punctuation and/or grammatical mistakes will
be rejected.
Bio - 50 - 70 words (give or take) and please don't forget to mention
work/website, etc. that you want to promote.
Taboos - The usual; sexual activity involving children, incest, or bestiality.
