Dear Friend of Chicken Soup for the Soul®,

We hope that this email finds you happy and healthy!

Do you have a heart-warming, insightful, humorous and powerfully moving story you've written or seen? If so, we are currently seeking stories, quotations and other material appropriate for inclusion in several of our forthcoming publications which include: Teacher's Soul, Sister's Soul, Grieving Soul, Christmas Treasury, and Christian Woman/Christian Teenage Soul. (Teacher's Soul submissions should be received by October 5th, Grieving Soul April 1st, Christmas Treasury April 1st, Christian Woman and Teen February 5th). Stories should be a maximum of 1500 words, typed and double-spaced in a word document.

What makes a good Chicken Soup story? A Chicken Soup story is an inspirational, true story that opens the heart and re-kindles the spirit. It is simple, inter-denominational, living art piece that helps readers discover basic principles they can use in their own lives. Chicken Soup stories are personal and often filled with emotion and drama…they are filled with vivid images created using the five senses. They have heart, but also something extra…that element that makes us all feel more hopeful, more connected, more thankful, closer in our relationship with God-and better about life in general. A Chicken Soup story isn't a sermon, an essay or eulogy. It isn't about politics or ultra-controversial issues. But it is a heart-warming, insightful and powerfully-moving work that inspires readers to live life more fully, to love more unconditionally and to trust God more completely.

To contribute a story for our publication is to join an impressive group of past contributors who are some of the most outstanding personages of our time. Chicken Soup for the Soul® titles have sold more than 65 million copies, literally transforming the lives of readers from all walks of life.

To submit your story, please send them to Chicken Soup Submissions, 2625 Samarkand Dr., Santa Barbara, CA 93105. (Please keep a copy for your records as we are unable to return unsolicited material.) Fax to 805-682-0872 or email your story to nautio@chickensoupforthesoul.com. Please include all of your contact information on the story itself.

We look forward to receiving your story and thank you for reading Chicken Soup for the Soul®

Sincerely,

Nancy Mitchell-Autio

Funtime Comics Presents...
What we publish
Contibutions for publication are always welcome. Special consideration is given to New Zealand comic creators, especial those who haven't had any work published yet. That said, we love overseas creators as well and would like to have at least one contribution from another country in each issue. We prefer original material, so if it's been printed elsewhere think about drawing something new. Our printing schedule is erratic (about twice a year) so it could be a while before you see your work in print.
Funtime is a comics anthology so pages that fit A4 format are our bread and butter. Artwork has to be Black and White, preferably A4 or A3 with good sized margins as it will end up shrunk down to A5 format. Remember that ball point pen is too light for most purposes, especially with the blue ink, it won't reproduce for printing very well at all. Watch the size of any lettering as well, people hate having to use a magnifying glass to read their comics.
Put your name on the back of each page as well as a page number if your contribution is longer than one page, otherwise the editor won't know what the correct order is.
Content wise our regular contributions range from a Science Fiction serial, experimental sequential art, humour in the style of British children's comics, social commentary and more besides so feel free to do anything you want that won't get us arrested or make us feel ill.
We are a non-profit organization so we can't pay you for your work but you will be sent a copy of any issue that your work appears in. Make sure you enclose contact details, biographical information and a self portrait (50x58mm). Money or postage stamps would also be appreciated to help cover costs.
Submissions can be sent to:
Funtime Comics, PO Box 1961, Christchurch, New Zealand.
